The gift that becomes the centerpiece of their kitchen.
Most engraved boards carry a small name in the corner. This one is made to be seen. Your design is engraved across the full face of an 11 x 14 inch board of solid black walnut or hard maple, so it can lean against the backsplash, stand on an open shelf, or sit on a plate stand as the piece everyone asks about.
It is the gift for a wedding, an anniversary, a first home, or a closing day, when you want to give something they will keep out on display instead of tucking into a drawer. Their names and their year, engraved in our shop in Albany, Oregon.
How it works
- Choose your wood and finish.
- Choose your design: Homestead, Modern, or Field.
- Type the names and an optional year exactly as you want them engraved.
- We fit the layout to your names, engrave it, and ship it within 1 to 2 business days.
Most orders arrive within 3 to 6 business days of shipping anywhere in the lower 48, and you will see an estimated delivery date at checkout.
Choose your design
Homestead: Our laurel crest. Two laurel branches frame the family name, with the first names set above and below it between ornate flourishes. Traditional and formal. Our pick for weddings and anniversaries.
Modern: The family name set large in clean, wide capitals, with both first names above it and the year below between two fine rules. No border and no ornament, just a confident layout. Our pick for modern kitchens and anyone who wants the cleanest look.
Field: Fine sprigs of wheat and wildflower frame the names from above and below. Softer and more natural than the other two. Our pick for farmhouse, cottage, and garden kitchens.
Every design uses the same four entries: a first name, a second first name, the family name, and an optional year. If you change your mind about the style, nothing needs to be retyped.
We engrave exactly what you type. If you want EST. on the board, type it. If you want only the year, type only the year. If you want one first name, leave the second one blank. Please check the spelling, names, and dates one more time before you order, because what you enter is what we engrave.
Choose your wood
Hard Maple: Light, clean, and classic. The engraving burns in crisp and dark against the pale wood, so every fine line of the design stands out. The sharpest contrast of the two.
Black Walnut: Rich, dark, and striking. The engraving sits tone on tone in the deep wood, softer and more subtle, and the board reads as a statement piece. Our most popular choice for gifting.
Made for display, ready for use
This is a real, solid hardwood cutting board, and it works for everyday prep. It truly shines as a display piece, though, and we want you to know why before you order. Laser engraving is a shallow burn into the surface of the wood, so regular cutting, washing, and scrubbing on the engraved face will slowly soften and lighten the markings over time. That is the nature of engraved wood rather than a flaw in the board.
To keep the design crisp and dark, display the engraved side and do your everyday prep on the back, or bring it out for serving bread, cheese, and charcuterie on the days that matter. A light coat of Wood Butter now and then keeps the wood and the engraving looking rich.
Why it costs more than our corner-engraved board
It is the same size board in the same woods. The difference is the engraving. A full-face design takes many times longer on the laser than a name in the corner, and every layout is fitted to your names before it is engraved. You are paying for that extra time and care, and for a piece that is designed to be the centerpiece of the gift.
Everything is included
The price you see is the whole price. The full-face engraving is included. Shipping anywhere in the lower 48 is included. Your board arrives conditioned with our handmade Wood Butter, packed with care, and ready to give.
What people give this board for
Weddings and anniversaries. Housewarmings and first homes. Realtor closing gifts. Pastor appreciation and church staff farewells. Retirement send-offs. Any occasion where the gift should be something they put on display and remember who it came from.

FAQ
How is this different from your other personalized board?
Our Personalized Cutting Board carries a name and an optional date line set in one corner, and it is made for everyday cooking. This board carries a full designed layout across the center of the face and is made to be displayed. Choose this one when the board itself is the centerpiece of the gift.
Can I still use it as a cutting board?
Yes. Just know that regular cutting and washing on the engraved face will slowly lighten the engraving over time. Many people keep the engraved side facing out and prep on the back, which keeps the design looking its best.
Which wood should I choose?
Choose maple for the crispest, highest-contrast engraving. Choose walnut for a darker, more dramatic board with a softer, tone-on-tone engraving. For gifting, walnut is our most popular choice.
Do you add EST. for me?
No. The year is engraved exactly as you type it, so it is yours to shape. Type EST. 2026 and that is what goes on the board. Type only 2026 and you get only the year.
How long does it take?
Most orders ship within 1 to 2 business days, and most arrive within 3 to 6 business days after that in the lower 48. If you have a specific deadline, note it at checkout and we will do everything we can to meet it.
What if a name is long?
We fit every layout to your names so the design keeps its proportions. Very long names may be set a little smaller. If you are unsure, send us a message through our custom shop page before you order.
What's your return policy on personalized orders?
Because each board is made to order, we cannot accept returns on personalized items, including boards engraved with text exactly as it was entered at purchase. Please double-check your spelling and dates before ordering. If there is a defect or an error on our end, we will make it right, no questions asked.

Made One at a Time in Albany, Oregon
-
Engraved by the Hands That Made It
Every board is milled, glued, flattened, sanded, and finished by hand, and the same hands set the engraving. There is no production line here, and nothing is sent out.
-
Built From What the Wood Gives
Each board is cut to follow the grain that is actually in front of us, so no two are identical. The piece you receive is the only one exactly like it.
-
Finished Before It Ships
Every board is sanded far past the point most shops stop and conditioned with our own NW Co. Wood Butter, a higher beeswax blend than anything on a store shelf. Add gift packaging and it arrives boxed, with a printed card, ready to hand over.
